Work Based Learning

Middlesex University has pioneered the development of work based learning within higher education since the early 1990s, gaining a Queen’s Anniversary prize in 1996 for excellence and innovation and awarded a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning by the Higher Education Funding Council. Work Based Learning – Journeys to the Core of Higher Education brings that expertise to this book, which offers a wealth of information and numerous real-life examples of introducing Work Based Learning (WBL) into the workplace and as a core curriculum in universities. This book offers various ways of applying WBL within modules, programme short courses and subject disciplines and within the generic fields of work based learning and professional studies. The book identifies and explores the multiple journeys of work based learning to the core of higher education. It will be of interest to educational practitioners seeking to capitalise upon work based learning in higher education programmes.
