The Silence of the Shaggy Rug

In the long tradition of the anti-hero in English literature, award-winning author Daniel Jacob has created a whole bunch of them – each able to stand shoulder to shoulder with a Flashman or anyone from the pages of a Waugh novel. With the touch of a Tom Sharpe for grand farce, the grotesque Crooke-Wells siblings trace their mean, mendacious and downright nasty steps through a series of plots and pitfalls in their attempt to accumulate unearned and entirely unmerited wealth. Standing like a beacon in this sea of iniquity is the mother, whose string of illicit love affairs seems positively honest by comparison.

This is the story of an upper-crust English family which is part of a sub-group known as The Hereditary Rich.  Beautifully written and splendidly wicked, The Silence of the Shaggy Rug is not for the faint-hearted or politically correct.

'The book was very intriguing as the stories are well woven, and its ability to hold its reader wondering what next is going to happen is to be admired. Also, I must say that the story was expertly written and executed. It gave the book a certain touch. I believe this can be developed into an excellent captivating movie.
The book is a good read. I found nothing to dislike about it. From the beginning to the end, the book was exhilarating. This leads me to give the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to people who would want to kick off after a stressful day at work. It is a must-read if you would want to lighten your day and have a good laugh. If you are a lover of comedy, add this book to your collection, it is sure to make your day.'

About the author

Van-boy at fifteen to the upper echelons of a multinational, was Nottingham born Daniel’s destiny. Home has been Europe, Africa, Latin America, and, barring Antarctica, his feet have trodden every continent. The eloquent authenticity of his writing arises from a lifetime of lived experiences; canoed on the Amazon – ‘tea’ with Borneo head-hunters – trekked in Death Valley – sales forecast OK’d by a witchdoctor – sailed on Errol Flynn’s old sloop – whizzed over the waves in an America’s Cup Yacht… An accomplished oil painter, he retired to Norfolk and became an award-winning playwright. Adopting a nom de guerre, he penned, The Silence of the Shaggy Rug.
