Castledawn

After the sudden death of his dad, 13-year-old DJ Mackay’s Mum moves him and his young sister from Edinburgh to the township of Linicro on the Isle of Skye. DJ didn’t want to leave his friends at school, but he knew his Mum needed a fresh start. Arriving on the island in the summer of 1976, surprisingly, DJ quickly grew to love the cottage and the Isle of Skye. With his two best friends, John and James Macdonald, the three boys set off to explore the beautifully rugged and mystical Score Bay.

On a cliff overlooking the bay stands Duntulm Castle and, in its shadow, sits Castledawn. The large country house has sat empty since the war, but its crumbling interior contains a dark secret that should not be disturbed. Unaware of the dangers, the friends go inside and their lives change forever.

Raymond Moore is a Registered Nurse, living and working in Saudi Arabia with his wife and three children. He also has a house and farm in Thailand. As well as being a writer, Raymond has been a record label owner, band manager and singer with a band. Born and brought up in Glasgow, he left his parents and moved to the Isle of Skye as a youngster, and his life changed forever.

Reviews

A super interesting suspense, mystery thriller. It’s a fast-paced thriller and it’ll keep you on your toes from start to finish. It’s a story of a young 13-year-old boy; DJ Mackay, who moves from Edinburgh to Linicro with his mother and sister, after his father dies. Although it’s a big change, he settles in quickly and makes new friends. He spends most of his free time with his 2 best friends; James and John. One weekend they decide to go camping near Castledawn and that’s where everything goes down. The characters are well-developed and the storyline is compelling (an absolute page-turner). Castledawn is the first instalment of the Castledawn trilogy and I can’t wait for the next parts to come out so I can devour them like I did with this part.

What a book this was! Im sad because the author hasn’t written the next 2 parts of the trilogy. This is so far the best thriller of this year that I’ve read. It’s the perfect blend of suspense, mystery, paranormal and action. I was hooked from the beginning to the end and didn’t want it to finish. Please Raymond write the next parts asap!! I certainly can’t wait!!!
